Buying your home doesn’t have to be stressful, or complicated when you get personal, one on one time and attention from the lawyer who is acting for you.
Technology is rapidly changing every facet of the practice of law. These changes have been most profound in the area of real estate law. Bruce was one of the first in the Kingston area to embraced web based title insurance (TitlePLUS underwritten by the Lawyers’ Professional Indemnity Company) and electronic registration (Teraview by Teranet Inc.) and remains at the forefront.
For most people, a home purchase is the largest purchase you will ever make in your lifetime. Numerous professionals are involved from: real estate agents and mortgage brokers; to home inspectors and insurance agents; and, eventually lawyers. Of these, only your lawyer is able to quarterback the entire process for you from beginning to end. Do yourself a favour and contact your lawyer at the beginning of the process.
Wherever possible, it is best to leave utility hook-ups and appliance deliveries to the day after possession because the time of day for actual possession is dependent upon the actions of many, many players and not always within your lawyer’s control.

The break-up of a family is difficult for everyone involved. There is much more to consider than just dollars and cents. Wherever possible, stakeholders should retain control of the process to achieve results that factor in their values and goals rather than giving up decision making to a third party arbitrator or judge. Collaborative Law is a dispute resolution process in which the parties and their lawyers commit themselves to a negotiated outcome. They agree that litigation will not be commenced while they are negotiating. The participants communicate directly and indirectly to reveal all their concerns leading to the creation of a mutually acceptable agreement that satisfies the interests of both parties.
Bruce’s years of family law experience will help guide you through a process that can be less confrontational and more satisfying.

Let Bruce help you with your:
Will | Powers of Attorney | Certificate of Appointment | Living Trust | And more…
For many, estate planning and administration can be a difficult and emotional experience.
A will provides a way to plan the distribution of your estate (real property and investments) after your death through a complex array of personal, legal, financial and tax considerations. A power of attorney is often a family member whom you have appointed to make financial and/or health care decisions on your behalf. In the estate planning context, a continuing power of attorney is particularly useful to address possible future physical and/or mental incapacity. These legal instruments are highly useful legal tools which are far too often neglected. Will and power of attorney kits may be better than nothing but not much better.
Bruce will work personally with you to help make your experience more comfortable while striving to achieve the outcome you expect and desire.
